Instructions to run the presentation DVD
   

Welcome to the SmarTeach Demo DVD. This Demo gives you an overview of MEdRC as a company and lets you see a preview of some samples from MEdRC’s future UGMed program including some sample animations. 

 

Getting Started

Before running the DVD, please read through this document to become familiar with the system requirements and known issues related to running the program.

Hardware Requirements

Before you begin, make sure you have the following hardware:

  • Pentium 4 or compatible processor (program will work even on a PIII 900MHz)

  • 128MB RAM (256MB is recommended)

  • DVD-ROM Drive

  • Screen Resolution of 1024x768 (higher is OK)

  • Windows XP (recommended) or Windows 2000

Software Requirements

These Demos assume that some basic and freely available software be preinstalled on your PC already. In case this software is not or if an older version is installed, you may need to install such software before the presentation can run:

  • Internet Explorer 5.5 or above: is necessary for proper viewing of this DVD. If you do not have the right version, click here and install.

  • Windows Media Player: is necessary to run videos on the program. If you do not have the right version installed already on your computer, click here and install.

  • Adobe Flash Player: is required to run some components in the presentation. If you do not have the required version, click here and install.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader: is required to view the PDF brochures on the DVD. If you do not have Acrobat Reader installed on your PC, click here and install.

How to run the DVD

Set the right screen resolution for your Windows desktop first.

1. Make sure your screen resolution is set to 1024x768 or above.

Autorun
2. Insert the DVD into the DVD drive.
3. The CD should “autorun” and the Main Menu should appear on your screen.

In case “Autorun” does not work on your system, then:
4. Double click the “MEdRC_Profile.htm" found on the DVD.

Internet Explorer (IE) 
5. In case Internet Explorer is not your default browser, you have to open this file choosing Internet Explorer. The program works best in Internet Explorer (IE) version 5.5 and above, make sure that the presentation opens only in Internet Explorer. Install IE from this DVD if necessary.

Security related to Active Content
6. Based on your IE security settings, you may get message prompts asking you for permission to allow active content, which the prompt may warn you may not be safe. This active content on this program is absolutely safe! You to should click “Allow” whenever you get this prompt.

Pop-up Blocking 
7. You may encounter a problem due to a Pop-Up Blocker being "On". Disable it in Internet Explorer : Go to the “Tools” menu, click “Internet Options”, Navigate to the “Privacy” tab, and un-check the “Block pop-ups” box.
