About the Course

Molecular biology as we know today, emerged with the discovery of the structure of DNA in the 1960s. Molecular biology states that information flow in organisms is unilateral: Genes are transcribed into RNA, and RNA is translated into proteins.
Molecular biology is a specialized branch of biochemistry, brought into existence by the collaborative efforts of physicists, chemists and biologists and is a study of the chemistry of molecules that are specifically connected to vital living processes.
We have created a course on biochemistry in molecular biology which will teach you about the fundamental units of DNA from bases, sugars and phosphoric acid together forming nucleosides and nucleotides to the structural shaping of DNA molecules. You will be taken through the replication process of DNA involving transcription and translation. Concept of mutation that has a profound clinical significance is discussed in detail. Recombinant DNA technology and gene therapy are also introduced in this model. Interactive exercises at the end of each topic are of immense help and promote better learning.

The delivery offers tremendous flexibility. You may pause a teacher while you refer to your textbooks (not includes) and to take notes. You may also rewind a segment to listen to the teacher again or you may skip a slide or two if you already know that bit. You may bookmark a segment that you wish to return to later, maybe to refresh just before your exams. While the lessons in this course may be arranged in a particular order based on our curriculum, you have the flexibility to take them in order of your preference based on your personalized learning needs.

What does the course material contain?

The course material contains a series of video lectures with state of the art visual depictions for easy understanding and remembering. You will also be given access to a series of multiple choice questions on the same topic for your self-assessment and a more thorough understanding of the topic.

Is there an exam or an assessment?

There are no exams. These courses are for self-study. Our MCQs, however, help in self-assessing yourself.

For how long can I access the course material?

You can complete the course material over a period of 6 months. However you can view the video lectures for twice the duration of the lectures. You can renew your access with a nominal extra charge.
