About the Course

The advent of pharmacological agents in treating respiratory disorders has revolutionized the field of respiratory medicine. For example, inhaled steroids are known to improve asthma symptoms and overall quality of life with a significant reduction in the risk of serious asthma attacks.
In this course, the pharmacological properties of various groups of drugs used for respiratory disorders like common cold and cough, expectorants and mucolytics, drugs used in asthma are discussed in detail.

Course Delivery Format

This course is delivered entirely online. It consists of a series of comprehensive lectures by a professor in the subject, appropriately annotated with slides, animations and wherever necessary, interactive content. The delivery offers tremendous flexibility. You may pause a teacher while you refer to your textbooks (not includes) and to take notes. You may also rewind a segment to listen to the teacher again or you may skip a slide or two if you already know that bit. You may bookmark a segment that you wish to return to later, maybe to refresh just before your exams. While the lessons in this course may be arranged in a particular order based on our curriculum, you have the flexibility to take them in order of your preference based on your personalized learning needs.

What does the course material contain?

The course material contains a series of video lectures with state of the art visual depictions for easy understanding and remembering. You will also be given access to a series of multiple choice questions on the same topic for your self-assessment and a more thorough understanding of the topic.

Is there an exam or an assessment?

There are no exams. These courses are for self-study. Our MCQs, however, help in self-assessing yourself.

For how long can I access the course material?

You can complete the course material over a period of 6 months. However you can view the video lectures for twice the duration of the lectures. You can renew your access with a nominal extra charge.

What hardware and software do I need to Access Short Courses?

You need any PC that runs Microsoft Windows at a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768. You require Silverlight Ver 1.0 to be installed to view the lectures. You also require at least 256 Kbps of bandwidth for having a good uninterrupted experience.
